On 11th September 2014, YTL Cement held its Annual Seminar at JW Marriot Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
We have Dr Tam Chat Tim ( YTL Cement's Technical Advisor), Ir Soo Thong Phor (YTL Cement's Director of Technical and Product Development), Dr Bruce J. Christensen (Vice President for the Construction Chemicals Division of BASF SE) and Dr Jiang Jiabiao (Product Manager for North Asia of Grace Construction Products) to give a presentation entitled "Build Faster, Higher and Stronger with Eco Cement and Concrete" .
The seminar saw a huge turnout with over 400 participants consisting of Engineers, Consultants, Contractors, Developers, Readymix Concrete Suppliers, Precasters, Industrial Users as well as Officers from various government agencies of Malaysia's Central Region.
The presentation covered:
- The type of assessment methods available and if they lead directly to usable results in quantitative or qualitative terms, or only indirectly indicating the trends for adjustment of composition of designed concrete. Both traditionally available tests as well as new test methods for SCC are reviewed for the role they play in the quality assurance for production or the performance of concrete as a product and the concrete structural elements in service.
- A brief review of the emerging trends for building faster, higher and stronger structures. With the newly published of BS EN 206:2013, in which testing methods and acceptance for Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) have been incorporated.
- Details on mixture designs, plastic and hardened properties and numerous project references where eco-friendly SCC was used.
